| Many of the environmental problems of recent years are closely
linked to the modern lifestyle (mode of living) that is based
on mass consumption and mass disposal. In order to spread lifestyles
that have a low environmental load, Sendai aims to carry out education
activities and provide information relating to the environment
and lifestyle. Moreover, within the various industrial sectors
in the city, efforts shall be made to encourage businesses to autonomously consider the environment and combine
this with industrial promotion. |

Supporting and Promoting New Lifestyles

| Sendai aims to create a system for collecting, storing and providing
environmental information to form the basis for new lifestyles,
and aims to support the voluntary activities of citizens, corporations
and private bodies to protect and create the environment. Also,
in order to make the awareness and actions of citizens towards
the environment more friendly, environmental education and learning
shall be enhanced and promoted. |
