[The road to friendship city affiliation]
Sendai asked China to search for a city similar to Sendai, located in
the Northeast region of China. This was motivated by Sendai's interest
in a friendly relationship with a Chinese city. In July 1979, the President
of the China-Japan Friendship Association proposed a relationship with
Changchun. Various documents were exchanged between the cities, concluding
with the exchange of memorandums in August 1980, and both cities signing
a friendship city agreement on October 27, 1980, in Sendai. |
