[The road to sister city affiliation]
The sister city relationship with Rennes began in 1963, when the French
ambassador to Japan visited Sendai. During this visit, the ambassador
stated that Rennes was interested in forming a sister city relationship
with Sendai. The reasons he gave were the many things the two cities
have in common, such as their long histories. The sister city affiliation
took place on Sept. 6, 1967, after both cities deepened their understanding
of each other by exchanging various documents and materials. |
