Timetable for Subway Namboku Line will change from December 3

The new timetable will be available from Tuesday, November 21 at each subway station, ticket counters of the Transportation Bureau, City of Sendai, and other. You can also view it on the Transportation Bureau’s official website.

Please Pay National Health Insurance Premiums by the Due Dates

National Health Insurance premiums are a resource used to cover the cost of your medical care when you see a doctor. Please pay your premiums by the due date. If you are having difficulties making payments due to reasons such as loss of employment, please consult one of the following offices immediately to inquire about fee reduction systems.

Do Not Forget your Citizens’ Health Check-up

Applications for city-organized Citizens’ Health Check-ups for the following must be sent and arrive by November 30th: basic check-ups and screenings for stomach cancer, uterine cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer (application for screenings of lung cancer, tuberculosis and prostate cancer, have closed). If you already have a ticket for a check-up, please don’t forget to show up!

Looking for students for “Evening Self-directed Learning Junior High School”

We offer “Evening Junior High School” to students who weren’t able to receive compulsory education due to various circumstances, to relearn the basic curriculum.
The night school will be held at the following two locatins:

Civic Activity Support Center
Classes will be held on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 14:00-16:30 and 18:00-20:30

Lifelong Learning Support Center
Classes will be held on the second and fourth Friday of every month from 18:00-20:30.

Taking Applications for Kid’s Club Members for FY2017

  • Eligible Children: first to fifth graders and also sixth graders with disabilities who require special support (however, said children must be able to commute to school by themselves and take care of themselves) and are also living in Sendai.
  • Fee: 3,000 yen/ month (fee reductions are available for low income households)
    Use of the extended services available from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. will result in an extra 1,000 yen charge per month. Please note that you may also be asked to pay for snack and insurance fees at some centers.
  • Application Period: November 27, 2017 – December 16, 2017 *excluding Sundays
    9:00a.m.- 6:00p.m. (9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. on Saturdays)
  • How to Apply: Please go directly to the after school daycare center where you wish to enroll your child. 
  • Application forms are distributed at each after-school day-care center and on Sendai City’s official website from November 1.
  • Please bring the guardian’s certificate of employment at the time of application.
  • Please note that your application may not be accepted if we receive more applications than available places.
  • The Kid’s Club after school daycare center may be held at locations other than children’ centers.
  • If there are still places available after the application period, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. 

BCG Vaccinations

  • Eligibility: Infants under the age of one (the standard age for BCG vaccinations is five to seven months old).
  • Things to bring: Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook, BCG vaccination coupon from the MCH Handbook voucher packet (please fill out and detach).
  • Please wait at least 28 days after your child receives a live vaccine (such as polio) or seven days after your child receives an inactive vaccine (such as DPT-IPV) before having BCG vaccinations.
