Paper Waste is Collected Even on Rainy Days

We collect paper materials twice a month. As the collected materials are dissolved in water or chemicals and then recycled, you can put out paper waste even if it rains. Please put out paper waste by 8:30a.m.on the morning of collection day, as you would with household waste.

Inhabitant Tax Payments

Please make the first FY 2018 inhabitant tax payment at your closest financial institution by July 2^nd (Mon.). If paying by bank/postal transfer,the transaction will be processed on July 2^nd(Mon.).

Payment Notice for FY 2018 Inhabitant Tax to be Sent Out

Sendai City will send out payment notices for FY 2018 inhabitant tax on June 7^th. There are four payment slips inside the notice. Each payment slip has a designated payment period, so please be sure to make payments with the appropriate slips within the specified periods. Please do not lose your payment slips. You can check your taxation information with the taxation statement.

Water & Sewerage Fee Reductions for Tax-Exempt Households

• Period：From the month following application to June 2019
• Exemption Amount：Basic fees for water and basis usage fees for sewerage
• Eligibility：Households in which all members are exempt from paying inhabitant taxes and do not receive financial support from other households.
• How to Apply: Bring the following documents to the Southern Waterworks Service Center, the Northern Waterworks Service Center, or the City Hall Waterworks Service Center after June 1^st:

1. FY 2018 Certificate of Prefectural/Municipal Tax Exemption for all household members. However, the certificate is not required for dependents 18 years of age or younger at the time of application.
2. A letter of proxy is required if applying by proxy.

From June 4^th to June 8^th, a temporary application desk will be opened at the Miyagi General Branch Office on weekdays from 9:30a.m. to 4:00p.m.

Don’t Forget to Submit Your Child Allowance Notification of Conditions

If you receive child allowance, you must submit a Notification of Conditions in order for Sendai City to confirm your eligibility and financial situation. The notification will be sent to you in mid-June. Please complete and submit it to one of the following offices* by June 29^th (Fri.). You can also send the Notification of Conditions to the office by post or apply by using “Maina Portal”(Maina Portal is an online administration service provided by the National Government).

*Your local ward office, the Miyagi General Branch Office, or the Akiu General Branch Office

Deadline to Apply for Municipal Housing is June 16th

• The Application Guide for Sendai City Municipal Housing will be available from June 6^th at the following locations:

• How to apply: Choose one municipal housing unit from the list, fill out the application form attached to the application guide and mail it in the provided envelope by June 16^th. In the event that there are more applications than available housing, applicants will be chosen by lottery.
• Earliest move-in date: Saturday, September 1^st(tentative)

• Applications from those who lost their home in the Great East Japan Earthquake and victims of domestic violence from their spouse or partner may have different requirements. Please contact the number below for details.

Measles and Rubella Vaccinations

• Eligibility:
  First Period: The day before your child’s first birthday to the day before their second birthday
  Second Period: Children who were born in between April 2, 2012 to April1, 2013. (Children who will enroll in elementary school from April 2019) 
• Vaccination Period:
  First Period: As soon as possible after your child’s first birthday
  Second Period: by March 31^st, 2019
• Vaccinations can be received at any medical institution registered for vaccinations. (An appointment may be required, so please call before you visit.)
• Things to Bring：Maternal and Child Health Handbook, measles/rubella vaccination coupon from Maternal and Child Health Handbook
• Please note that if you did not get a vaccination within the designated period and wish to receive one after that, you must pay the full amount for vaccination fees.
