Please Don’t Forget to Apply for Reduction and Exemption of National Pension Payments

If you have difficulty making National Pension payments for financial reasons, you can apply for complete exemption or partial reduction of payments (your income will be audited and you will be assigned to one of four tiers based on your income in the previous year).

Basic Health Checkup will Begin from July

• Examination Period: July 1^st(Wed.) to September 30^th(Wed.) 2020, and January 4^th(Mon.) to January 30^th(Sat.) 2021
• Eligibility: Persons aged 35 to 39 years or 75 years and over and applied to take part in the Basic Health Checkup run by Sendai City
• For those who have not applied, please apply as soon as possible.

The following persons can take the Special Health Checkup:

1. Eligibility: Persons aged 40 to 74 years old who are enrolled in the National Health Insurance system. Examination Period: September 1^st(Tue.) 2020 to January 30^th(Sat.) 2021 *Excludes the End of Year and New Year period
2. Eligibility: Persons aged 40 to 74 years old who are a dependent of a person enrolled in other Health Insurance system. Examination Period: September 1^st(Tue.) to December 28^th(Mon.)

For persons eligible for 1., please take the Special Health Checkup within the examination period upon confirming the contents of the Special Health Checkup coupon expected to be sent in late August.

For persons eligible for 2., please make inquiries to your insurer for details about receiving the health check.

Now Accepting Applications for Municipal Housing for Single Parents/ Households with Child(ren) -Application Deadline: July 16^th -

• The application packet will be distributed from July 6^th(Mon.) at the following places:

Application Section of Sendai City Construction Corporation (Sendai City Hall Kokubuncho Office 2F), Shimin-no-heya, Sendai City Hall 1F, General Information Desk of all ward offices, General Branch Offices, Sendai Station Service Center of the Family Registration Section, Aoba Ward Office (AER 5F),
Certificate Issuance Center, Chuo-shimin Center of any ward, Lifelong Learning Promotion Center, etc.

• How to apply: Choose the unit you wish to apply for, fill out the application form attached to the application packet and, using the provided envelope, send in the form by mail by July 16^th. In the event that there are more applications than available housing, applications will be chosen by lottery.
• Move-in date: September 18^th (Fri.)(tentative)
• Eligibility:Those who meet all the following conditions

1. Those that have difficulty finding a place to live.
2. Applicant must be dependent of a child under 20 years old or households with preschool children (born on and after April 2^nd, 2015).
3. Those that reside in Sendai or commute to Sendai.

Plastic Bag Charge to begin from July 1^st

From July 1^st, a Japan-wide charge onplastic bags (plastic shopping bags with a handle) will be implemented. Although plastic is a versatile material, it poses concerning environmental issues suchas ocean plastic pollution. Review your usual shopping habits and try to bring your own portable shopping bags when out shopping.

BCG Vaccinations

• Eligibility:BCG vaccinations are given to children under one year of age. (The standard age for BCG vaccinations is five to seven months old.)
• Things to bring: Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook, BCG vaccination coupon from the MCH Handbook voucher packet (please fill out and detach)
• Please wait at least 28 days after your child receives a live vaccine (such as polio) or seven days after your child receives an inactive vaccine (such as DPT-IPV) for BCG vaccinations.
