FY 2022 Taxation or Tax Exemption Certificates of Inhabitant Tax (Income Certificates) to be Issued

Certificates are issued by the municipality in which you resided in as of January 1st, 2022.
The issuing day for the FY 2022 is as follows.

• Those who wish to have inhabitant taxes directly deducted from their salary, and those exempt from taxes.
  Issuing place:
  ・Ward Office starts from May 13
  ・Convenience store distribution starts from May 22
• Those who wish to pay inhabitant taxes after receiving the bill and those who wish to have it deducted from their pension fund.
  Issuing place:
  ・Ward Office and convenience stores starts from June 10

※Those who are financially supported by someone with a total income exceeding 10 million yen in the previous year may be required to provide an inhabitant tax declaration when obtaining a Taxation or Tax Exemption Certificates.

High School, etc. Tuition Support Loan Information

Borrowers of Japan Finance Corporation Educational General Finance Loans (National Education Loan), may have accrued interest that has been paid during the student's enrolment in an educational institution (high school, vocational school etc.) subsidized.

• Application Period: From July 1 (Fri.) to December 9 (Fri.)
• Eligibility: Guardians of high school, etc. students who are living in Sendai City.
• Conditions: Complete/Full payment of Inhabitant taxes, etc.

Providing a Gift of Money for your Third Child and After When They Enter Elementary School

• Eligibility: Guardians of elementary school students (third child and after) who enrolled into elementary school in FY 2022, and are living in Sendai City as of May 1st.
• Payment amount: 30,000 yen
• Please look out for the announcement letter which will be distributed through elementary schools, etc. or contact the following office directly for more details.
• Application：Please use the application attached to the announcement letter to apply by May 31. The application is also available to download from the official website of the City of Sendai.

Aids, Syphilis and Chlamydia Testing

• Anonymous testing
• Reservation required.
• How to apply:
  Call the dedicated reservation line (TEL: 090-4478-4641), between 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, approximately one month before the testing date up until the day before the testing, or from the official website of the City of Sendai.

1. Night-time Aids, Syphilis and Chlamydia Testing:
   Date: June 2 (Thur.) 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
   Place: Aoba Ward Office
   Results will be notified directly to the test taker at a later date.
2. Holidays and Rapid Testing of Aids, Syphilis:
   Date: June 4 (Sat.) 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
   Place: Health Consultation Office of Koseikan (1-1-5, Miyamachi, Aoba-ku)
3. Night-time and Rapid Testing of Aids, Syphilis:
   Date: June 10 (Fri.) and 24 (Fri.) 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
   Place: Koseikan Health Consultation Office (1-1-5, Miyamachi, Aoba-ku)
   Results will be notified directly to the test taker, about one hour after blood samples have been taken. (In the case of indeterminate results, the test taker will be notified of the results at a later date.)

Capacity: All testing services (1・2・3) are limited to about 20 people on a first-come-first-served basis.

Declaration Form related to National Health Insurance Premiums to be Sent out

There is a system for the reduction of National Health Insurance premiums for households whose total income falls below a certain threshold. A declaration form will be sent in mid-May that must be submitted by May 25 , 2022, if your households National Health Insurance premiums were reduced in the previous fiscal year, and Sendai City is unable to determine your household’s total income for FY 2021.

Currently Taking Applications for Municipal Housing (for Single Parent Households or Households with Small Children or Multiple Children): Applications Accepted until May 16

• How to apply: Choose one municipal housing unit from the table, fill out the application form attached to the application guide and mail it in the provided envelope by May 16 (Mon.). In the event that there are more applications than available housing, applications will be chosen by lottery.
• Earliest move-in date: July 27 (Wed.)(tentative)
• Eligibility: Those who fulfill all of the following requirements

1. Has a great need for housing.
2. The applicant is a single parent household supporting a dependent child/children under 20 years old or a household with a preschooler (born after April 2, 2016) or households with three or more children who are under 18 years old.
3. Have an address in or are working in Sendai City.

Additionally there are conditions such as having an income below a certain amount.
Applications from those whose residence was in an area under the evacuation orders placed after the 2011 nuclear disaster, evacuees who resided in areas eligible for support based on the children and disaster victims support act, and those who are victims of DV or criminals are also accepted, but differ in requirements. Please inquire for further details.
