Where is My Evacuation Area?


Sendai City has prepared the following evacuation areas. Check your neighborhood evacuation areas and evacuation routes in advance,
Sendai City does not designate evacuation areas according to where people live (e.g. “people who live in district A must evacuate to evacuation area B). Therefore, each family should decide where they will evacuate in advance.

Designated refuge areas

Designated refuge areas are facilities that have an open space for evacuation and a building. Municipal elementary, junior high, and high schools are designated refuge areas. Designated refuge areas
Local refuge areas

Local refuge areas are open spaces that can be used for temporary evacuation in areas where designated refuge areas are difficult to reach. Large parks and other areas are designated as local refuge areas.
Regional refuge areas
(Japanese)
Regional refuge areas are areas to be used when people cannot stay in designated refuge areas because of spreading fires. Large parks and other areas are designated as regional refuge areas.
Accommodation refuge areas
(Japanese)
Accommodation refuge areas are for people who have lost their residence because of collapsed or burnt houses. Facilities such as shimin centers and community centers are designated as accommodation refuge areas.
