Interest Subsidies for National Education Loans

Sendai City will subsidize the interest paid on general education loans(National Education Loans)from the Japan Finance Corporation while your child is in high school.

  • Application Period: July 1st-December 19th.
  • Eligibility: Guardians of high school students who reside in Sendai.
  • Conditions, including the payment of city taxes in full, apply.

Don’t forget to apply for reduction of National Pension payments

If you have difficulty making National Pension payments for financial reasons, you can apply for exemption or reduction of payments(your income will be audited and you will be assigned to one of four tiers based on your income in the previous year).

Renewal applications for subsidies for transportation costs for persons with disabilities are now being accepting

If eligible, you may choose one among a Free Ride Disability Pass, fuel subsidy tickets for private vehicles, welfare taxi tickets and a Senior Citizen Pass(for those aged 70 or over with a disability).
There are restrictions on both the type and classification of disabilities, and incomes.
On 30th June, application forms were sent out to those who are already receiving subsidies. For those who are currently not eligible, please consult us if there is any change in your disability level or incomes because there are cases where you may be eligible.

Free rubella antibody tests for adults

  • Period: Until 31st March 2015
  • Test Location: Registered medical institutions(reservations required)
  • Eligibility: Those who are a registered resident in Sendai, have not had a rubella antibody test or vaccination, and have never had rubella. In addition to one of the following applying:
    • 1). Women aged 19 to 49 who wish to get pregnant
    • 2). Persons who live with a pregnant woman with low rubella antibody value
    • 3). Persons who live with women aged 19 to 49, who have been vaccinated but have a low rubella antibody value
  • Depending on the results of the test, you may be recommended to have a rubella vaccination.

Fixed Asset Tax/City Planning Tax payments

Please make the second FY 2014 fixed asset tax and city planning tax payments at your closest financial institution by July 31(Thurs). If paying by bank transfer, the transaction will be processed on July 31.
