Inhabitant (Resident) Tax Must Be Paid by January 31

Please make your fourth FY2017 inhabitant (resident) tax payment at your closest financial institution by Wednesday, January 31.

HIV, Syphilis, and Chlamydia Testing

Sendai City is conducting anonymous tests with same-day results.

  • Same-day HIV and Syphilis Tests
    Aoba Ward Office
    ・Date: Feb. 17, 2018 (Sat.)
    ・Hours: 1:30-3:00 p.m.
    ・Capacity: 30 people (first-come, first-served basis)
    Miyagi Dental Association Hall (1-5-1, Kokubun-cho, Aoba-ku)
    ・Date: Feb. 9, 2018 (Fri.) and Feb. 23, 2018 (Fri.)
    ・Hours: 5:00-7:00 p.m.
    ・Capacity: 30 people for each day
    *You can get your test results about one hour after blood has been taken. (if the result is put on hold, you will be notified later.)
  • Night HIV, Syphilis and Chlamydia Tests
    Aoba Ward Office
    ・Date: Feb. 1, 2018 (Thur.)
    ・Hours: 5:30-7:00 p.m.
    ・Capacity: 35 people (first-come, first-served basis)
    *Test results will be notified directly to the test taker one week after the test.
    Applications: You can make a reservation by phone using a designated number (090-4478-4641) from one month before the test to the day before on weekdays during 1:00-4:00 p.m. Online applications from the official website can also be accepted.

National Pension Payments Begin when You Turn 20 Years Old

If you have turned 20 years old and are not registered for an employee pension or mutual aid association pension program, even if you are a foreign resident, please join the National Pension Program. National Pension will not only be provided to elderly policyholders, but also to policyholders that develop a disability, or to their bereaved families in the event of the policyholder’s death. Pension fee reduction is available to those who are experiencing difficulties paying their fees, so please contact the following offices for further details. (Please note that your income will be examined in the screening process.)

Currently Taking Applications for Municipal Housing(for Families with Small Children): Applications Accepted until January 16

The Application Guide for Sendai City Municipal Housing will be available from Friday, January 5 at the following locations:

  • How to apply: Choose one municipal housing unit, fill out the application form attached to the application guide and post it in the provided envelope by January 16 (Tues.). In the event that there are more applications than available housing, applications will be chosen by lottery
  • Earliest move-in date: March 21 (national holiday, tentative)
    Applications from those who lost their houses in the Great East Japan Earthquake and those from the restricted habitation area designated by the Act on Special Measures for the Rebirth of Fukushima are also accepted but differ in requirements. Please contact us for details.

Measles and Rubella Vaccinations

Vaccinations can be received at any medical institution registered for vaccinations.
(An appointment may be required, so please call before you visit.)

  • Eligibility:
    First Period: from the before your child’s first birthday to the day before your child’s second birthday
    Second Period: children who were born in between April 2, 2011 - April 1, 2012(children who will enter elementary schools this spring)
  • Vaccination Period:
    First Period: as soon as possible after your child’s first birthday
    Second Period: by March 31, 2018
  • Things to Bring:Maternal and Child Health Handbook, measles/rubella vaccination coupon from Maternal and Child Health Handbook, health insurance card

BCG Vaccinations

  • Eligibility: Infants under the age of one
    (the standard age for BCG vaccinations is five to seven months old).
  • Things to bring: Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook, BCG vaccination coupon from the MCH Handbook voucher packet (please fill out and detach)
  • Please wait at least 28 days after your child receives a live vaccine, or 7 days after your child receives an inactive vaccine (such as DPT-IPV) before having BCG vaccinations.

    Aoba Ward Office 2nd Floor: Jan. 15 (Mon.) 2:00-3:00 p.m., Jan. 29 (Mon.) 2:00-3:00 p.m.
