Sendai Premium Gift Voucher Notification

Applications for Sendai premium voucher exchange tickets are due by November 29 (Fri.).
Application forms are being sent to those who are exempted from inhabitant tax (excludes eligible purchaser’s financial supporters whom are subject to municipal inhabitant’s tax etc.) and are eligible to purchase the vouchers. If you wish to receive the exchange vouchers, please make sure to return the application form in the designated envelope by November 29 (Fri.).

To those who have received exchange tickets from other municipalities: If you have moved to Sendai and have received premium voucher exchange tickets from another municipality, you can exchange them for Sendai premium voucher exchange tickets. For those who wish to make an exchange, please contact the Premium Voucher Hotline, and complete the necessary procedures by Feb. 14 (Fri.), 2020.

Stay Aware : Norovirus

Winter is the peak outbreak season for norovirus. Please make sure to take appropriate prevention measures such as washing hands before handling food and cooking and heating foods thoroughly before eating. Pamphlets on how to prevent this illness at home are being distributed at the Management Section or Sanitation Section of the Public Health and Welfare Center of Ward Offices.

November is the Month for Pension

If you do not pay National Pension premiums for a long period of time, when your each the age for pension payments you will be unable to claim funds, or should it become necessary, basic disability pension, and survivors’ basic pension. Please make sure to pay your National Pension premiums. Contribution payment exemption and postponement systems are available for those who have financial difficulties through application by the individual.

Please Pay National Health Insurance Premiums by the Due Dates

National Health Insurance premiums are an important resource for the National Health Insurance system. Please pay your premiums by the due date. If you are having difficulties making payments due to reasons such as loss of employment, please consult one of the following offices immediately to inquire about fee reduction systems.

Do Not Forget your Citizens’ Health Check-up

Applications for city-organized Citizens’ Health Check-ups for the following must be sent and arrive by November 29^th:basic check-ups and screenings for stomach cancer, uterine cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer (application for screenings of lung cancer, tuberculosis and prostate cancer, have closed). Applications are distributed at Ward Offices, General Branch Offices. Applications are also available online (must be completed on a computer). If you already have a ticket for a check-up, please don’t forget to show up!

Taking Applications for Kid’s Club Members for FY2020

The Kid’s Club after-school daycare centeris for first to sixth graders whose parents or guardians are unable to take care of them after school due to work or other reasons. We aim to encourage the mental and physical development of children through various activities and games. For information such as the number of openings, directly contact each center.

• Eligible Children: first to sixth graders (however, said children must be able to commute to the centers by themselves and take care of themselves) and are also attending school in Sendai.
• Fee: 3,000yen/ month (fee reductions are available for low income households)

The use of extended services is available from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and will result in an extra 1,000 yen charge per month. Please note that you may also be asked to pay for snack and activity fees at some centers.

• Application Period: November 25, 2019 – December 14, 2019 *excluding Sundays

9:00a.m. - 6:00p.m.(9:00a.m.-5:00p.m. on Saturdays)

• How to Apply: Please go directly to the after-school daycare center where you wish to enroll your child.
• Application forms are distributed at each after-school daycare center and on Sendai City’s official website from November 1.
• Please bring the guardian’s certificate of employment at the time of application.
• Please note that an application may not be accepted if more applications are received than available places.
• The Kid’s Club after-school daycare center may be held at locations other than children’s centers.
• If there are still places available after the application period, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

BCG Vaccinations

• Eligibility: Infants under the age of one (the standard age for BCG vaccinations is five to seven months old).
• Things to bring: Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Handbook, BCG vaccination coupon from the MCH Handbook voucher packet (please fill out and detach)
• Please wait at least 28 days after your child receives a live vaccine (such as polio)or seven days after your child receives an inactive vaccine (such as DPT-IPV)before having BCG vaccinations.
• Please go directly to the vaccination site.
• The BCG vaccination may be received outside your ward of residence. Please contact ward offices for details.
