Please make the second FY 2021 Inhabitant Tax payment at your closest financial institution by August 31st (Tue.). If paying by bank/postal transfer, the transaction will be processed on August 31st (Tue.).

We are accepting consultations of those whose incomes have been reduced due to COVID-19, and are unable to pay inhabitant tax by the due date because of difficult circumstances.
It may be possible to extend the due date for tax payments, please enquire for further details.

Do Not Forget to Submit Documents for the Child-Rearing Allowance and Special Child-Rearing Allowance

The City of Sendai has sent documents for the Child-Rearing Allowance to single-parent households with children under 18 years of age, and documents for the Special Child-Rearing Allowance to households with children with disabilities to confirm whether said households are eligible to receive these allowances. Please complete the documents and submit them in person.

Medical Care Cost Subsidy for Single Parents on Reduced Incomes due to COVID-19

Single-parent families whose household finances suddenly changed as a result of COVID-19, and had a reduction of income, and who are not receiving Medical Cost Subsidy for Single Parents on limited income are eligible to receive a medical care cost subsidy.

  • Application Period: Until September 30th (Thu.), 2021
  • Eligibility: Those who meet the following conditions are applicable.
  1. A single parent who supports a child aged up to 18 years old after October 1st 2020, before the fiscal year ends, and has a fixed address in Sendai.
  2. Households whose finances changed drastically as a result of COVID-19 and their income reduced, and the recipient and the support obligor’s income from February 2020 fulfills the criteria standard for receiving the Medical Care Cost subsidy for Single Parents.

    An application form is available at Childcare and Benefit Section of each Ward office and Public Health and Welfare Section of General Branch Offices. It is also available for download on the City of Sendai’s Official Website.

Issue of Injury and Sickness Allowance within the National Health Insurance System and Advanced-age Medical System

If you have been absent from work for a certain period for medical treatment due to COVID-19 infection (includes suspected infection if showing some symptoms such as fever), and as a result, have not been paid, you can receive the Injury and Sickness Allowance. In addition, the Injury and Sickness Allowance does not cover the first three consecutive days off, but on the fourth day and after, and the number of days that you were unable to work will be covered.

The PCR Test Center Operated by Non-municipal Organization Launched at Main building of the Sendai City Hall.

The City of Sendai has established Kinoshita Group Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR Test Center in the main building of the Sendai City Hall for those who want to take a COVID-19 PCR test.

  • Operated Hours: Weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (The cut-off-time is 5:00 p.m.)

  ※Open 7 days a week for the time being

  • Venue: A special venue on the ground floor, on the east side of the main building next to the main entrance of Sendai City Hall.
  • Eligibility: Those whose address is in Miyagi prefecture and who do not have any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Fee: 1,900 yen for whose address is in Sendai city,
    2,100 yen for whose address is out of Sendai city within Miyagi prefecture
    1,900 yen for whose address is in Miyagi Prefecture (from Sept.1st (Wed.))
    (Paying by credit cards, electronic payment, QR code payment, and travel IC cards such as Suica and icsca, are available.)
    (In principal cash payments are not accepted, however, please have the exact amount ready if paying with cash is unavoidable.)
  • Test method: This PCR test uses a small saliva sample that you collect yourself.
    ※If you have symptoms such as fever and coughs or close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, you cannot take the test.

The reservation method and the PCR test flow

  1. Make a reservation through the website of Kinoshita Group Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR Test Center(External Link )(Japanese text)
    ※If you find it difficult to make an online reservation, you can visit the center directly and may be able to take a test despite depending on the congestion level.
  2.  On your reservation day you will be required to pay the fee, sign the testing consent form, and collect your own saliva sample at the PCR test center.
    ※Please bring your identification or letters detailing your current address in order to verify your eligibility for the test.
  3. The result will be sent to the examinee by e-mail by 11:59 p.m. within two days after the test to the e-mail address registered when the reservation was made.
    ※If the result is positive the public health center will also inform you of the result.
