Please bring a medical referral letter when you go see a doctor in Sendai City Hospital(excluding the Division of Pediatrics)

As of Friday November 1st, all the medical care departments in Sendai City Hospital, excluding Division of Pediatrics became “referral only for outpatient care”. New patients, except in emergency cases, are requested to bring a medical referral letter issued by clinics or other hospitals.

Do not forget your citizens’ health check-up

Applications for city-organized Citizens’ Health Check-ups for the following must reach the office by November 29th: basic check-ups and screenings for stomach cancer, uterine cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer(Applications are now closed for lung cancer, tuberculosis, and prostate cancer screenings).

Applications are available at your local Ward Office or General Branch Office. Also, if you already have a ticket for a check-up, please don’t forget to show up!

Have you already registered for National Health Insurance?

If you have lost your employees’ health insurance due to retirement or loss of employment, you must register for National Health Insurance(unless you have opted to extend your health insurance or have become a dependent on a family member’s employees’ health insurance). Even if you delay registering for National Health Insurance, you will be considered enrolled from the month you lost your employees’ health insurance, and will be responsible for paying all premiums from that date.

If you have not yet registered, please do so as soon as possible at the National Health Insurance and Pension Section of your local Ward Office or Miyagi General Branch Office, or the Public Health and Welfare Section of Akiu General Branch Office.

Reduction of National Health Insurance Premiums for involuntarily unemployed persons

There is a system for the reduction of national health insurance premiums for persons who left job due to involuntary reasons(e.g. bankruptcy, firing or end of employment contract)for a fixed period.

  • Period of reduction:From the month of the day after you left your job to the end of following fiscal year(Reductions will be applied to the premiums for the fiscal year 2011).
  • You are requested to file an application in order to receive the reduction of Health Insurance Premiums.
  • Required documents: Qualified Recipient’s Identification Card
  • Persons who have been issued Identification Cards for Specially Qualified Recipients or Elderly Qualified recipients are NOT eligible for this.
