Special Exhibition
The Golden Pharaohs and Pyramids ~ The Treasures from the Egyptian Museum, Cairo
Duration: April 22(Fri) to June 26(Sun)
This exhibition, focusing on the theme of pyramids built in the era of the Old Kingdom of Egypt, approximately 4,500 years ago, and the pharaohs, features treasures from the Egyptian Museum, Cairo, including statues of pharaohs and the Golden Mask of King Amenemopet, known as one of the three great golden masks.

High school and university/college students ¥1,200
Elementary and Junior high school students ¥800

Feature Exhibition
Ghosts, Animals and Demons, Oh My!
Cute and Comical Characters Assembled Together!
This exhibit will show you the lighter side of our collection!
Duration: July 15(Fri) to August 28(Sun)
This exhibition introduces to you a galaxy of various charming characters from the Sendai City Museum’s collection, including paintings, craftworks, and historical materials.
You will encounter numerous unique characters, including heart-warming figures and cute animals, as well as ghosts and eerie creatures, which are summer staples. Why not come and find your favorite?

Special Exhibition
Sesshu Toyo, Miyamoto Musashi and Ink Paintings, Treasures from Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art
 Duration: September 16 (Fri) to October 30 (Sun)
The Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art boasts an extensive collection of masterpiece ink paintings by Japanese painters mainly related to Okayama, including Sesshū, born in Okayama and known as the founder of Japanese ink painting, Miyamoto Musashi and Urakami Gyokudō, as well as excellent Chinese ink paintings.
This exhibition provides you with an ideal opportunity to encounter the origins of Japanese ink painting and its further development through this top-class ink painting collection in Japan.

Feature Exhibition
New Collection Donated by Saito Gratitude Foundation (Tentative)
 Duration: November 11(Fri) to December 27(Tue)

Since its establishment in 1923, the incorporated foundation Saito Gratitude Foundation has long contributed to the development of natural science and local history. In 2015, the foundation donated to our museum 3,000 items related to the Sendai Domain, including documents and pictures, some designated as Cultural Properties of Sendai City.
This exhibition introduces the history and culture of Sendai through carefully selected materials from this new collection.
