Sendai City Museum Reopening Commemorative Feature Exhibition –
“This Calls for a Celebration!”

Exhibition Period: April 2 (Tue) to May 26 (Sun)

To celebrate the reopening of Sendai City Museum, we are holding a commemorative feature exhibition. Visitors can enjoy a fascinating collection of lucky charms and items marked with felicitous symbols, including the dowry of a daimyo, as well as enjoy the colorful and cheerful atmosphere created by the various auspicious items – all while taking part in experiences that give visitors a sense of closeness with the collection. We have a plethora of items on display which center on celebration, such as patterns of pines, bamboo, and plums, the Seven Deities of Good Fortune, and Fukusuke (a traditional auspicious doll with a large head). With the saying “laugh and be merry” as the theme of this exhibition, we have made sure that visitors can enjoy themselves while taking in the charms of the collection, not only by viewing, but also by getting to experience touching the items and searching for the symbols of luck they contain.
