Who it is for: Foreign residents, including international students, who are interested in starting a business in Sendai City or have been operating a business for approximately 5 years or less. (Limited to the first 10 applicants.)
- Venue: AER Building 7F
- Content: Individual consultations with relevant experts on starting/running a business.
- How to apply: Apply via the website of the Sendai City Entrepreneurship Support Center starting from 9:00 a.m. on September 8. Application for 1 by phone is also accepted.

National Health Insurance Card Expires on September 30.
For those who have the national health insurance, the insurance card at hand will expire on September 30.
From October onwards, if you don’t have an Individual Number Card registered as a health insurance card (Myna Health Insurance Card), you will allow the individual to continue accessing medical services same as before, by presenting the “Health Insurance Eligibility Certificate” at medical institutions. Currently Accepting Applications for Municipal Housing

For this application period, a point system that assigns points to applicants based on their degree of financial hardship, housing status, the percentage of household income spent on rent, and other factors will be used to determine housing priorities. Applicants with the highest points will be given first priority.
- The "Application Guide for Sendai City Municipal Housing" will be distributed starting from September 5 (Fri) at locations below:
- Application Section of the Sendai City Construction Public Corporation (Sendai City Hall Kokubuncho Building 2nd Floor)
- City Information Desk of each ward office
- How to apply: Fill out the application form attached to the Application Guide and mail the application form along with the declaration form in using the provided envelope by September 16 (Tue).
- Earliest move in date: January 22 (Thu), 2026 (tentative)
- Eligibility: Individuals who are facing difficulties in their current housing situation. For more details, please see the Application Guide.
Applications are also accepted from individuals who previously resided in areas under evacuation orders by the 2011 nuclear disaster, evacuees who previously resided in areas eligible for support based on the Children and Victims Support Act, and victims of domestic violence and crimes. However, application requirements may differ.

Income Limit of Children’s Medical Expense Benefit for Single-Mother/Father Family will be Raised in October.
Single-mother and father families who are now ineligible for children’s medical expense benefit due to the income limit will be eligible if your annual incomes in 2024 is less than the new limit from October.
- The application is necessary to receive the benefit. No application is required if you are already enrolled.

Have You Applied to Child Rearing Allowance?
The application is required to receive the Child Rearing Allowance. As a rule, payment of the allowance will begin from the month after the application has been made.
- The system expansion has been implemented in October, 2024, including the removal of income limits. In the current system, children from 0 years old until the age of finishing high school (between 16 and 18 years old at the end of FY2025) meet the requirements. Please confirm your eligibility for allowance, if you were subject to the income limit, and/or you are raising a child at the age of finishing high school outside the City of Sendai.

Recruiting Students for Evening Classes at Sendai Municipal Minami-Koizumi Junior High School (Starting in October 2025)
- Eligibility: Miyagi residents who meet any of the following requirements:
- Japanese residents who are over school age without completing compulsory education
- Japanese residents who were graduated from junior high school, but not receive adequate education
- Foreign residents who are over school age without completing compulsory education in and outside Japan
How to apply: Please download the application form from the official website of the City of Sendai and send the necessary items by September 19.
The enrollment information session will be held as follows:
- Date and Time: September 9 (Tue) 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
- Venue: Sendai Municipal Minami-Koizumi Junior High School
- Eligibility: Individuals who wish to enroll in evening classes starting in October 2025 and their affiliates
