Please submit your tax declaration electronically or by mail.
Those who are required to file taxes must do so by the deadline.
For inhabitant tax declarations, we ask for your cooperation in filing electronically using a smartphone or computer through eLTAX, or by submitting your declaration by post.
For income tax and related filings, please use the e Tax electronic filing system on the National Tax Agency website.
Gift Cards to be Distributed to FY2025 Inhabitant Tax Exempt Households
Gift cards of 10,000 yen per household will be distributed to FY2025 inhabitant tax exempt households beginning on March 19 (Thu).
- Eligibility:
Households in which all members meet both of the following requirements (1) and (2).
(1) Those whose place of residence is registered in Sendai City as of January 1, 2026
(2) Those who are exempt from the FY2025 inhabitant tax (per capita levy)
- How to use the gift card:
Please refer to the enclosed user guide for instructions on how to use the gift card.
- How to receive a gift card:
No application process is required to receive a gift card.
However, households fleeing domestic violence from a spouse or other relatives, or under similar circumstances, may require special procedures. If you have evacuated to Sendai City but your residence record is not registered in the City, you must apply by April 30 (Thu). Please refer to the official website of the City of Sendai for details.

20,000 Yen per Child: Child-rearing Support Allowance Responding to Rising Prices
A payment of 20,000 yen per child will be provided for each child from 0 years old through high‑school age (up to the end of the fiscal year in which the child turns 18).
- Application required for certain public servants
Public servants who meet any of the following conditions must submit an application.
(Those who are not public servants do not need to apply.)
(1) Receiving child allowance as of September 30, 2025
(2) Received child allowance for a child born between October 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026
(3) Newly became eligible for child allowance due to divorce or similar reasons between October 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026
Notes:
- Condition (1) applies to those whose residence record is in Sendai City as of September 30, 2025.
- Conditions (2) and (3) apply to those whose residence record is in Sendai City at the time the child allowance is approved.
- Eligible public servants will receive an application form (claim form) from their workplace (government agency), which certifies their child allowance status.
- Those whose child’s residence record is in Sendai City will receive application guidance by mail.

Consultations for Starting a Business
(1) Consultations for matters related to starting a business
Date and time: March 18 (Wed) 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Who it is for: Those who are considering starting a business in Miyagi Prefecture or have just
started a business. (Limited to the first 30 applicants.)
(2) Consultation for Foreign Entrepreneurs
Date and time: March 26 (Thu) 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Who it is for: Foreign residents, including international students, who are interested in starting a business in Sendai City or have been operating a business for approximately 5 years or less. (Limited to the first 10 applicants.)
- Venue: 7th Floor of AER Building
- Content: Individual consultations with relevant experts on starting/running a business
- How to apply: Apply on the Sendai City Entrepreneurship Support Center website from 9:00 a.m. on March 6. Application for (1) by phone is also accepted.

Currently Accepting Applications for Municipal Housing
―Applications Open Until March 16 (Mon)―
- The "Application Guide for Sendai City Municipal Housing" will be distributed starting from March 6 (Fri) at the following locations:
Application Section of the Sendai City Construction Public Corporation (2nd Floor of Sendai City Hall Kokubuncho Building) / Sendai Information Center (2nd Floor of Sendai City Hall) / City Information Desk of each ward office / General branches / Family and Resident Registration Section of the Sendai Station Service Center, Aoba Ward Office (5th Floor of AER Building), etc.
- How to apply:
Choose one municipal housing unit from the list, fill out the application form attached to the Application Guide and mail the form using the provided envelope by March 16 (Mon). If the number of applications exceeds that of available housing units, selections will be made by lottery.
- Earliest move in date:
May 30 (Sat), 2026 (tentative)
- Eligibility:
- Applicants must meet all of the following conditions:
(1) Currently having difficulty securing housing
(2) Currently living with or intends to live with a family member
(3) Reside or work in Sendai City
Additional requirements apply, including having an income below a specified level.

Applications are also accepted from individuals who previously lived in areas designated for evacuation following the 2011 nuclear disaster, evacuees from areas eligible for support under the Children and Victims Support Act, and victims of domestic violence or crimes. Japanese Language Class Information
Japanese language classes for foreign residents in Sendai City are provided by community volunteers. Multilingual information is available on the website of the SenTIA International Relations( External link )
(1) Sendai Japanese Language Course (Term 1)
- Course period: April 7 (Tue) - September 11 (Fri)
(A placement test will be held on April 3 (Fri) from 9:30 a.m.)
- Class days: Tuesday to Friday each week (The schedule varies depending on the class.)
- Location: Aoba Ward Central Civic Center (Address: 2-1-4 Ichibancho, Aoba-ku)
- Classes: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Kanji, etc.
- Fee: Textbook fee required
- Course information: The application form and course details are available on SenTIA’s website.
(2) Japanese Learners’ Room (Japanese language classes for foreign residents) (childcare available)
- Class schedule: Every Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- Location: Yagiyama Civic Center (Address: 1-43 Yagiyama-Honcho, Taihaku-ku)
- Classes: Introductory, Beginner, Pre-intermediate, Upper intermediate
- Fees: Textbook fee plus a registration fee of 1,000 – 2,000 yen per term
- Participation: You can join the class at any time.
(3) Nihongo no mori (Community Japanese Language Class)
- Class schedule: Every Tuesday and Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- Location: Room C104, 1st Floor of Lecture Room Building C, Kawauchi Campus, Tohoku University

- Participation: No reservation is required. Please go directly to the classroom.
