Water & Sewerage Fee Reductions and Exemptions for Inhabitant Tax-Exempt Households
- Reduction and Exemption Period: From the month following application to June 2023.
- Reduction and Exemption Amount: Basic fees for water and basis usage fees for sewerage.
- Eligibility: All household members are exempt from paying Inhabitant Taxes and have a low-income as of the day of application, and do not receive financial support from other households. (Please be aware that some Inhabitant Tax-exempt households may not be eligible for the fee reductions and exemptions depending on the condition of their building and usage of water.)

・Required documents:
- FY 2022 Tax Exemption Certificates for all household members. However, the certificate is not required for dependents 18 years of age or younger.
- A letter of proxy is required if applying by proxy.
Bring or mail the application documents to Southern Waterworks Service Center, Northern Waterworks Service Center of Waterworks Bureau, or City Hall Waterworks Service Center. If you wish to use the mail option, please call the number below in advance.

Child-support Allowance System will be Changed
The Child-support Allowance System will be changed from June 1 in the following ways. For further details, please see the letter of revision of the system which was sent to recipients (except public servants) as of April 28.
- Upper income limit to be set
For allowances from June 2022, an upper income limit will be newly set. If your income exceeds a certain amount, you will lose eligibility and can NOT receive the allowance.
- No need to submit a Notification of Conditions in principal
In principal, there is no need to submit the Notification of Condition. However the City of Sendai will send the Notification of Conditions in the middle of June to those who need to submit the Notification of Conditions again depending on their child-rearing situation. Please submit it to the Childcare and Benefit Section of the Ward Office or Public Health and Welfare Section of the General Branch where you reside by June 30.
You can also submit the Notification of Conditions by using "Mynaportal" (Mynaportal is an online administration service provided by the National Government), and the counters of each Ward Office and General Branch are also available for procedures from June 1.

Have you Taken your National Health Insurance Specified Health Check-up?
- Period: June 1(Wed.) to September 30 (Fri.), January 4 (Wed.) to 31 (Tue.), 2023
- Eligibility: Those who are enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme aged 40 to 74 years (as of March 31, 2023)
- The City of Sendai sent Check-up Coupons to eligible residents in late May. Please take your check-up at one of the designated medical institutions from the enclosed list.
- Those who are enrolled in the Advanced-age Medical System or aged 35 to 39 years (as of March 31, 2023) are available to take basic health check from July 1. Please inquire further details, such as how to apply, etc.

Payment Slips for FY 2022 National Health Insurance Premiums to be Sent Out
The City of Sendai will send out payment slips for FY 2022 National Health Insurance premiums on June 16. Please make your payment by the due date.
- A dedicated call center will be open from June 16 (Thu.) to July 5 (Tue.).

Payment Notice for Inhabitant Tax to be Sent Out
The City of Sendai will send out Payment Notices for FY 2022 Inhabitant Tax on June 9 (Thu.). There are four payment slips are inside the Payment Notice. Each payment slip has a designated payment period, so please be sure to make payments with the appropriate slips within the specified periods. Please do not lose your payment slips or mistake their due date. You can check your taxation information with the taxation statement on the notice.

Inhabitant Tax Payments are Due on June 30 (Thu.)
Please make your first Inhabitant Tax payment for FY 2022 at your nearest financial institution by June 30 (Thu.). If you pay by bank transfer, the transaction will be made on Jun 30 (Thu.).

This time a point system that assigns points based on the degree of financial hardship, housing status and the percentage of income spent on rent, etc. of the applicant will be used to determine potential residents. Applicants with the highest need will be given the highest number of points.

- How to apply: Choose one municipal housing unit from the table, fill out the application form attached to the application guide and mail it in the provided envelope by June 16 (Thu.).
- How residents are decided (point system):
Residents will be decided in order of higher scores which were given based on the declaration of living hardship about the living space and living circumstance of facilities, such as bathrooms, etc. per household, the percentage of income spent on rent, household status of single parent households and households with disabled persons, etc., the risk of eviction, and the need of housing due to failing the lottery multiple times, etc. For more details of the point system, please see the application guide.
- Earliest move-in date: October 5 (Wed.), 2022 (tentative)
- Eligibility: Those who fulfill all of the following requirements
- Has a great need for housing.
- Those that have relatives who are currently living together or are planning to live together.
- Those that reside or work in Sendai City.
There are other conditions such as an income must be lower than a certain amount, etc. For more details, please see the application guide or inquire.
Applications from those whose residence was in an area under evacuation orders after the 2011 nuclear disaster, evacuees who resided in areas eligible for support based on the Children and Victims Support Act, and those who are victims of DV or criminals are also accepted, but may differ in application requirements.
