The Company Commissioned to Provide Credit Card Payment Services for Water Bills, etc. will be Changed

The contracted service provider for credit card payment services for water bills, etc. will be changed to F-REGI Co., Ltd.
If you wish to continue paying your water bill by credit card, you will need to re-register your information with F-REGI Co., Ltd.
Please note that new credit card registrations will be suspended from September 19 (Thu), 8:00 p.m. to October 1 (Tue), 11:00 a.m.

  • Registration start date and time: October 1(Tue), 11:00 a.m.
  • If you are currently using the credit card payment service, a postcard will be sent out to you from October onwards. Please read the postcard and complete the registration procedure by February 20 (Thu), 2025.

AIDS and Syphillis Rapid Testing 

  • Reservation required
  • How to apply:
    Reservations can be made by calling the dedicated reservation line (TEL: 090-4478-4641), between 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, from two weeks before the testing date up until the day before the testing, or from the official website of the City of Sendai.
  1. Night-time Rapid Testing of AIDS and Syphilis: 
    Date and time: September 27 (Fri) and October 11 (Fri), 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. 
    Venue: 5F of AER
  2. Holiday Rapid Testing of AIDS and Syphilis 
    Date and time: October 5 (Sat), 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
    Venue: Health Consultation Office of Koseikan (1-1-5, Miyamachi, Aoba-ku)

Capacity: approximately 30 people each(first-come first-served)
The test taker will be directly informed of the results about one hour after blood samples have been taken. (In the case of indeterminate results, the test taker will be notified of the results at a later date.)

New National Health Insurance Cards to be Sent out

The City of Sendai will be sending out new National Health Insurance cards, addressed to the head of household, by the end of September via registered mail.
If you are not home when your insurance card is delivered, the post office will hold onto your mail for a short period of time. If you are unable to collect your package from the post office within the storage period, please contact one of the following offices so that we can send it to you again.

Please note that we will stop issuing new insurance cards after December 2, 2024. However, the insurance card you will receive can be used up until the expiration date stated on the card, unless there are any changes to the information on it.

Currently Accepting Applications for Municipal Housing
―Applications Open Until September 16 (Mon, National Holiday)―

For this application period, a point system that assigns points to applicants based on their degree of financial hardship, housing status, the percentage of household income spent on rent, and other factors will be used to determine housing priorities. Applicants with the highest points will be given first priority.

  • The "Application Guide for Sendai City Municipal Housing" will be distributed starting from September 6 (Fri) at locations such as the following:
    Application Section of the Sendai City Construction Public Corporation (Sendai City Hall Kokubuncho Building 2nd Floor)
    Sendai Information Center (Sendai City Hall 2nd Floor)
    City Information Desk of each ward office
    General branches
    Certificate Issuance Centers
    Family and Resident Registration Section of the Sendai Station Service Center, Aoba Ward Office (AER Building 5th Floor)
  • How to apply: Choose one municipal housing unit from the chart, fill out the application form attached to the Application Guide and mail the application form along with the declaration form in using the provided envelope by September 16 (Mon, National holiday).
  • How residents are decided (point system):
     Residents will be decided in order of higher scores which were given based on the declaration of living hardship about the living space and living circumstance of facilities, such as bathrooms, etc. per household, the percentage of income spent on rent, household status of single parent households and households with disabled persons, etc., the risk of eviction, and the need of housing due to failing the lottery multiple times, etc. For more details of the point system, please see the application guide.
  • Earliest move in date: January 22 (Wed), 2025 (tentative)
  • Eligibility: Individuals who fulfill all of the following requirements.
  1. Those who are facing difficulties in their current housing situation.
  2. Those with relatives whom they are currently living together with or are planning to move in together with.
  3. Those who reside or work in Sendai City.

There are other conditions such as that one's income must be lower than a certain amount. For more details, please see the Application Guide.
Applications are also accepted from individuals who previously resided in areas under evacuation orders by the 2011 nuclear disaster, evacuees who previously resided in areas eligible for support based on the Children and Victims Support Act, and victims of domestic violence and crimes. However, application requirements may differ. Please inquire for further details.

Enrollment Information Sessions for Evening Classes at Sendai Municipal Minami-Koizumi Junior High School Starting in April 2025 to be Held

  • Date: October 12 (Sat), 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Venue: Sendai Municipal Minami-Koizumi Junior High School
  • Content: Explanation of outline of evening classes, enrollment procedure and application method, etc.
  • Eligibility: Individuals who wish to enroll in evening classes starting in April 2025 and their affiliates
  • Individual consultation will be held on a different date for those who are interested in enrollment. Please ask the following department for more details.
